REALTIME WORLDS – creators of the no.1 hit game CRACKDOWN, are looking for a Community Relations Manager to work on their next ground breaking title.

Realtime Worlds are on a very secure footing with our game projects signed with top-tier partners, a recent $31m investment and an all-star board of directors whose former job titles included Founder of DMA Design (creator of such hits as the Lemmings and Grand Theft Auto series), Vice President at Nintendo of America and Managing Director of Sony Computer Entertainment Europe.

Help form the online community for a high-profile, next generation MMO title. Interact closely with team members in order to communicate game issues to the player base. Assist with Website layout and help set the standards for website development. Oversee the management of a community of millions of users worldwide.

Responsibilities

  • Hire and staff a community relations department for the global release of a new game project (APB) in the MMO space.
  • Assist with marketing efforts for APB to the MMO community.
  • Cultivate the APB online community though the use of podcasts, developer interviews, game tips, product updates, and the promotion of fan-generated content.
  • Manage and help plan the APB website to support new methods to get the community involved with the game.
  • Read and respond to postings on the community page. Promote a healthy positive exchange of ideas and thoughts on the forums by interacting with the player base both as an informative presence and as an entertaining one.
  • Providing regular reports on APB’s online community to executive team as well as development management.
  • Manage public tests and gather player feedback for the development team.
  • Serves as a liaison between the player community and the company. Relay information from management to the player base and relay community thoughts and opinions to management.
  • Represent the community perspective in feature development, marketing initiatives and partnerships. Ensure the player’s needs are a priority.
  • Work in concert with the Customer Support team to ensure a positive player experience.
  • Manage and form external community relationships with gaming media and APB player fan sites.
  • Oversee messaging and conduct interviews with online press.

Experience Required

  • 3+ years Community Management experience or an equivalent combination of education and experience.

Skills Required

  • Strong knowledge of the MMO competitive landscape and industry trends in online gaming.
  • Experience working with developers in collaborative MMO community building.
  • MMO Community Relations or Public Relations experience.
  • Must have excellent verbal and written communication skills.
  • Knowledge of Internet message-board browsing, use and etiquette.
  • Self-motivated and self-sufficient.
  • Must be willing to travel domestically and internationally.

Knowledge of the following areas a plus

  • A passion for MMO games and the MMO community.
  • Previous experience in designing community websites.
  • Academic background in media arts, industrial arts, English or Journalism.
  • Marketing experience.
  • MMO Community Relations experience.
