Online Community Organizer
The Service Employees International Union, SEIU, is seeking an online community organizer to build a new community of young people of color, 18-27, who are interested in changing their communities. We’re launching Nextfire.org in 2008 to bring together black and brown young people who are concerned about their communities and want to make changes that will make a difference. Nextfire.org will be a gathering place to inspire them to action: to register to vote, to get involved, to do something that works. SEIU is the fastest-growing union in
North America, with 1.9 million members, and is a national leader in fighting for secure and affordable health care for all, living wages, affirmative action, and the rights of all workers regardless of immigration status. We’re looking for an online organizer with strong and creative writing skills, with experience in social media, social networking, blogging, and otherwise building community online.
